FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17
Empowering Our Youth: From Trinidad to the U.S. Michelle Boisselle-Morris is the Program Management Consultant at Save a Youth, Save a Life (SAYSAL). Her work is focused on affordable quality education and opportunities for marginalized young men in Trinidad. She has also been instrumental in the development of an inter-generational Women’s Leadership program for women and girls from two specific communities in Trinidad. The program is designed to pair women with girls to build strong relationships and provide mentoring. Following the Community Solutions Program with IREX, Michelle will concentrate on the development of a parenting program for parents of youth in marginalized communities. It will include themes such as gender-based violence awareness and successful parenting, among others. While in the U.S., Michelle hopes to learn about the issues that low income families in another country face and gain new ideas to help young people and their parents in Trinidadian communities.
